Maharaja Palace is a must visit when you visit Mysuru (earlier known as Mysore). It is a grand Palace. I have been here many times since 1976. The grandeur of this place is intact. This time we visited Mysore Maharaja Palace on 24-Feb-2019, on the occasion of Riya’s 23rd birthday.
Though the Royal family is very much in news and active in many activities, they do not stay in this palace. This palace is for the purpose of tourism.
There is an entrance fees of Rs. 50 per person for Indians. Besides, one needs paying for carrying cameras. Cameras on Mobile Phones are not charged.
There are metal detectors at the entrance. We had to request the guards to turn off the Metal Detector so that my Mother could pass. My Mother has pacemaker installed and thus should not pass through Metal Detectors.
There is an identical gate on the opposite side of the Palace. Entrance is allowed from that gate as well.
The moment we entered the Palace, we found a Temple on the right hand side. The Temple was closed when we visited the Palace.
