The first foreign country I visited was Thailand. I was assigned to lead a project at Computer Integrated Manufacturing Company PLC (CIMCO) in Bangkok. We were to develop a Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) software. CIMCO was headed by Mr. Victor Bachelor (CEO), a retired Royal Air Force Officer. The CTO was Mr. Mathaes Schorer, a German. Everyone called him Matze.
From the first day of my arrival at CIMCO, I made a great bonding with Matze. We were to develop a software which would contain more than 5,000 program written in C language, each program being about 10,000 lines. We had 8 months time to complete the project and we were 8 member team to do this job. I initially worked on the project from Kolkata in India alongside the rest of the team. Later, as our modules were ready for delivery, I shifted to Bangkok with Ajay Chourasia leading the team in India.
Initially, for about 1.5 months of moving to Bangkok, I was alone. Deepshree along with Riya joined me after that. Matze took care of me during the period I was alone in Bangkok. I used to work from 9:00 AM in the morning till about 12 Midnight everyday including weekends. On most of working days, Matze and I used to have lunch together. On every Tuesday, Matze would take me to the Rotary Club meeting at around 7:00 PM where we would discuss a problem for about 2 hours. On Saturdays, Matze would land up with his Thai wife, Dao, and we would have dinner together.
On one Sunday, Matze took me to Siam Park. Siam Park is about 40 KM from the Bangkok City Center.
