On 27-Jun-2018, I had a meeting fixed with the Tibero Technical Team for discussing the differences between Tibero and Oracle. Our Interconnect Solution is built using Oracle 12g as the database. We wanted to change the solution so that we could use Tibero as database as this could drastically bring down the cost of the solution. At 11 PM on 26-Jun-2018, I received a call from the CEO of Tibero apologising for the cancellation of the meeting as his Engineer had some emergency at home. We rescheduled the meeting for 28-Jun-2018.
So, I had the whole of the day of 27-Jun-2018 free in Bangkok. I went to the Concierge at Hilton Sukumvit and asked for ideas for spending the time. He told me that it was too late as any booking for the next day had to be done before 7 PM. I told him to anyway check if any tour operator could take me to Pattaya. He enquired and the first operator he contacted came back saying I could be accommodated. So, I made the booking paying 1700 Bahts for a full day trip to Pattaya.
I got up at 5 AM on 27-Jun-2018 and got ready. I reached the Breakfast Restaurant at exactly 6 AM. The Breakfast is opened from 6 AM to 10 AM. I quickly had breakfast and came down to the Lobby. The Tour Operator was waiting for me. I got into the van at around 6:20 AM.
The Van then went to Hotel Mercure where he picked up a Chinese couple. Then he went to another hotel and picked up another Chinese couple and a Chinese man. Then we drove to near Seacon Square where our party was joined by an American. So, we were 7 of us in the Van. There was place for 10 people in the Van. So, we were all very comfortable.
It was around 7:30 AM when we got onto the highway to Pattaya. I slept all through the drive to Pattaya. When I woke up, we were in Pattaya City. The Van took us to the office of the Tour Company.
In the office of Alliance Vacations, they told us to take a towel. We had to pay 100 Bahts for the Towel and pay an additional deposit of 100 Bahts which would be returned when we would return the Towel. All of us rented a Towel paying 200 Bahts. I also realised that I should have brought along a Shorts as we would be going into the Sea. So, I bought a Shorts from Alliance Vacations office for 200 Bahts.
We then once again boarded our Van and the Van took us to the Pier. We were joined by our Guide, Khun Kay. From the parking place of the Van, we had to walk about 200 meters to reach our Boat.
We soon boarded the Boat.
We were all then sailing towards the Coral Island. The Boat ride took about 40 minutes.
Our Boat parked at a Pier in the Coral Island. We had to walk about 300 meters to reach the beach. This was a huge beach with lots of people.
We walked further to reach on of the Restaurant which was booked by the Tour Company. The Restaurant was called TN Seafood.
On reaching here, our Guide first took keys for the Lockers for each of us. We have to pay 100 Baht for each Locker. The Lockers are quite large.
The is Toilets for Men and Women in this Restaurant as well. The Toilets are reasonably maintained.
For using the Toilets, the Restaurant charges 20 Bahts for each use. However, our Tour Company had agreement due to which use of Toilets was not charged for us. There is facility for taking shower as well. For Shower, the Restaurant charges 50 Bahts.
I changed into the Short and kept all my belongings in the Locker. Then, our Guide called us for Lunch. It was around 12 Noon by this time. All 7 of us and the Guide sat around one of the tables. The Lunch was elaborate. There was Tom Yum Soup, Steamed Fish, Chicken Fried Rice, Boiled Rice, Egg Noodles, Omelette, Grilled Tiger Prawns, Grilled Crabs, 2 Vegetables dishes, Chicken Balls, Fried Chicken, Boiled Corn, Water Melon, Pineapple and Coke.
After lunch, each of us went for different activities. I chose to go for Water Scooter Ride. I boarded the Water Scooter. There was a Thai who accompanied me on the Scooter. Initially, the Thai drove the Water Scooter. After reaching inside the sea, he allowed me to drive the Scooter. The Water Scooter Ride was for about 30 minutes. I paid 500 Bahts for the ride. There was no one to take my photograph.
There are other activities as well like Banana Boat.
Then I went into the Sea and lazed around the next 1 hour.
At 1:30 PM, our group got together as we had to go for Snorkelling. We walked along the beach for about 100 meters. On the way, I found that there is an Indian Restaurant here as well.
I found that one can hire Scooters on the Island and go around on their own.
We then boarded a Trekker.
We drove through very narrow roads. The roads are just enough for one Trekker to drive through.
After a 15 minutes ride, we reached another Pier. From here we were to board another Boat to go to another Island called Koh Sak, where we would do Snorkelling.
After wait for 15 minutes, we boarded the Boat to go to Koh Sak.
4 of our group including myself also wanted to go for Paragliding. So, our Boat stopped in the middle of the Sea. Another small Speed Boat came along and we boarded that. This Speed Boat took us to a Barge stationed in the Sea. Here, on this barge, we were prepared for Paragliding. One by one, we went Paragliding. It was a great experience. I was in the Air for about 20 minutes. I must have gone up about 40 meters. The Paragliding Ride cost 500 Bahts.
There is a photographer at the Paragliding Barge. For each photograph, I paid 100 Bahts. As I took 2 photographs, I had to pay 200 Bahts. They print the photos immediately and hand over.
Then the Speed Boat took us to our Boat, now at Koh Sak. In about 20 minutes, we were in our Boat.
I kept all my luggage in the Locker. There was no charge for the same. Then, I put on the Life Jacket and the Snorkel. I got into the Sea and Snorkelled for about 40 minutes. There is lovely scenes to be seen here under water. We were allowed 1 hour. I had to pay 500 Bahts for Snorkelling. There are other activities here as well like Rowing, etc.
During this 1 hour at Koh Sak, some of the people were Fishing. The Fishing Gears were available in the Boat. One person caught 2 Squids.
The Tour Company served us Watermelons and Water. This was very good at this time as I felt quite hungry after the Snorkelling.
We returned to Koh Larn from Koh Sak. Here, we boarded another Boat to return to Pattaya. It took about 40 minutes to reach Pattaya.
On reaching Pattaya, we walked down the Pier to reach our Van. On the way, I found a Mobile Toilet. They charge 10 Bahts to use of this Toilet.
Then each of us made different choices for spending the next 2 hours in Pattaya. The American (named Ceaser) chose to go for a 2 hour Thai Massage session costing 500 Bahts. One Chinese Couple chose to go for Fucking Show. Another Chinese Couple and the Chinese Bachelor were staying back in Pattaya. I went for Tiffany Show costing 900 Bahts for 1 hour show.
The Tour Company dropped us at the different spots. My spot was the last.
We took my seat for the 6:00 PM Show. As I saw, I took out my camera and clicked a photograph. Immediately, one of the observers came over and told me that photography was prohibited.
After the Show, I walked down the street and found food. I had a Lobster.
At 8:00 PM, our Guide Khun Kay came to pick me up. We had to wait for the Van to arrive. So, I started talking to him. I learnt that he had graduated in Law the last year. His wife was working in Bangkok in Ministry of Immigration. His wife came over every weekend to Pattaya.
Our Van arrived at 8:30 PM. Now, we were only 4 of us in the Van on the way back to Bangkok. We drove on the highway to Bangkok. It was raining heavily at this point. We stopped on the way at a place where there were many hotel. The American went to McDonald to buy some dinner. I spoke to the Driver. I learnt that his name was Khun Lupan and he was the owner of this Tour Company.
By the time, I reached my Hotel, it was 11:30 PM. But my day was not over yet as I had to watch the Brazil versus Serbia World Cup match.
